Women's Guild / LWML

MEETINGS - resume second Wednesday of month, September 14 - 10:00am

LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League), also known in our church as the Women’s Guild. Our organization is based on mission work, service to the congregation, and fellowship. We help serve the worldwide LWML by saving pennies, nickels, and any other “mites” we have, in the boxes available at church. We collect the mites every meeting and send them to the LWML headquarters to be added together with other church’s collections. Each year, projects are selected to use the money we collected. We get a report of the projects by way of our LWML volunteer and a newsletter. Anyone in the congregation can also use a mite box and have their contents be added to ours to be sent to LWML.

We meet the second Wednesday of the month from September to June at 10 am. We begin each meeting with a devotion led by a member, followed by a brief (hopefully) business meeting. After the business meeting, we do a variety of things; sometimes a project such as making favors for the Easter breakfast, or having an interesting speaker. We have had, for example, “Martin Luther and his wife, Katie”, the Menomonee Falls Police Canine Unit, and an estate planning expert come to our meetings. In addition, we always plan at least one “Field trip” a year or tour an interesting spot, followed by lunch at a nearby restaurant.

LUNCH is always served, provided by 3  members. We take turns trying out new recipes, or maybe a family favorite on the other members. It’s always a treat! It’s a great way to get to know your fellow church member at a pleasant morning with friends.

LWML – Grant # 24 – Reaching the Homebound with God’s Word

Worship Anew Lutheran Media Ministries - $100,000

With an aging population facing health issues that prevent them from attending church, accessibility to the faithful teaching and understanding of the Bible as taught in our creeds and Lutheran Confessions is important.

Worship Anew has six regular pastors who appear on Worship Anew plus guest appearances from church leaders and the speaker of The Lutheran Hour. These homilies are about 10 minutes and bringing a message of comfort to those who hear. We find ourselves in extremely tumultuous times. It seems so easy to be filled with anxiousness and uncertainty. For those unable to attend church, this ministry is a source of great comfort. And even for many who still attend church, it is another great opportunity to be built up in the faith. This is why, even with the significant growth and success of Worship Anew, there is still an incredible challenge to reach people in many other areas around the United States, where the program does not currently go. Support from the LWML will be vital in ensuring thousands more each week will hear God's Word proclaimed on Worship Anew. The broadcast of Worship Anew by Lutheran Media Ministries provides a clear, accessible Gospel message. For more information, go to lwml.org/2021-2023-mission-grant-24.

LWML “What’s Your 80?” Thanks to all members who donated to the Advent Sock Tree. We collected 160 pairs of socks – doubling our goal of 80 in honor of LWML’s 80th anniversary. Two boxes of socks were sent to Mongolia for distribution by the Bakers and the remainder were given to Linda Kautz’s collection for Milwaukee Rescue Mission and Joy House.
